The forest fires continue to remain a big concern during these hot summer days. According to the General Directorate of Civil Emergencies some 15 new blazes were reported during the last 24 hours in the entire territory.

A total of 153 firefighters supported by 27 firefighting vehicles along 138 military forces battled for hours with the flames preventing the situation from getting worst.

Helicopters intervention became necessary to help the firefighters control the flames due to the difficulties generated by the broken terrain.

The situation throughout the country is being continuously monitored due to the risk of new blazes that may be caused by the high temperatures.

General Directorate of Civil Emergencies renews the call to the citizens to report any sign of forest fire in the emergency numbers or the State Police numbers.
