The Macedonia - Albania match will be played in Strumica’s ‘Mladost’ stadium, despite the fact that this stadium does not comply with the necessary conditions for a match of this level. UEFA choose this stadium focusing on the security while the Albanian Football Federation (AFF) officially objected this decision.
This fact was confirmed by the AFF president, Armando Duka during an interview given to the Albanian media.
“We have strongly objected this decision because from our point of view this stadium is inappropriate for this match. This stadium provides no security, despite the fact that Macedonian Football Federation (MFF) and the Macedonian government claim that this is a better choice than the Skopje’s stadium. The capital’s stadium has a higher level of security. We’re talking about a large stadium, with perfect security system. Furthermore, both national teams presence would be enabled in this stadium,” said Duka.
Anyway, Duka declared that the final decision belongs to UEFA and AFF will have to accept their choice.
