Albania, Europe’s Highest Prices Increase in March

Albania registered the highest rhythms of prices increase in a European level during March. The Statistics Institute (INSTAT) made public the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) for March 2017, which differently from the Index of Consumer Prices (ICO) measures the prices changes for the Albanian and international families in the retail markets. 

This index in Albania was 3.8, the highest in Europe according to INSTAT. According to this institution the index change is mostly influenced by the annual increase of the “Food and Non-Alcoholic Drinks” group prices with 8.5%, followed by the “Merchandise and Different Services” group with 3.4%, the “Transport” group with 3.2%, “Entertainment and Culture” group with 2.5%, etc. 

(HICP) covers all the expenses made within country’s territory by the Albanian families and the residential and non-residential visitors’ expenses.
