The Women's Albanian National Team secured a place in the qualifying round of the World Cup 2019 after defeating in the last minute the Women’s Greek National Team with 2-1 score. The last match of the Group ‘B’ pre-qualifying round was played in “Elbasan Arena”. Albania got initially the lead thanks to a goal scored by Megi Doçi at 16th minute, but the Greek team equalized the figures two minutes later through a goal scored by Nati. Qualification would be achieved only if Albania would come out victorious from this match. This fact urged the coach Armir Grima team to seek the victory’s goal. Gkatsou caused a penalty at 49th minute leaving the Greek team with 10 players but Velaj failed to transform this golden opportunity into goal.

While the match’s end was quickly approaching the Red and Black team totally dominated the field. The victory’s goal was scored by Velaj in the last minute.

Neither 5 additional minutes nor the expulsion of Morina helped Greece to score again. The Women's Albanian National Team managed to qualify rejoicing the victory while the Greeks left with tears in the eyes.
