The constitutive session of Macedonia's Parliament, at which a new Speaker of the highest legislative body should be elected, will resume on Monday.

Members of the Parliament's Committee on Election and Appointment should be also elected at this session on Monday.

After three-day negotiations, the parliamentary parties agreed last Thursday to nominate VMRO-DPMNE MP Ilija Dimovski for a chair of the Committee on Election and Appointment. Two days earlier they reached and agreement on the number of Committee members from each party. Thus, VMRO-DPMNE will have six members, SDSM-5, DUI-1 and BESA-1.

The nomination of members of the Committee on Election and Appointment Issues is a prerequisite for scheduling the continuation of the Parliament's constitutive session.

The Parliament's constitutive session was held on 30 December 2016 only to verify MPs' mandates. However it was interrupted because no party or coalition then mustered a majority that could elect a new speaker.
